Detour...

I've been off this weekend at a speaking engagement and a Gee Haw Whimmy Diddle Contest...more on that later!

I need to spend today putting things in order and spending time in my greenhouse so I am sending you on a detour...take a quick trip over to the The Deliberate Agrarian's blog (Hope for a Troubled America) - it is an exceptional post!

  1. I actually know what a Gee Haw Whimmy Diddle is! Had a neighbor in the mountains that use to make them. Bet the contest was fun!

  2. Hello... I found your blog on the blogroll of a blog on a blogroll of a blog on my blogroll... or something like that! :)
I'm a Tennesseean too, which is why I clicked on your blog title. Then to my surprise you mention the Gee-Haw Whimmy Diddle contest. That was in my neck of the woods - unless there was more than one, and really, what are the odds? If you check my email address you'll know. I was there with my family on Saturday... is it possible we crossed paths?

  3. Peggy,
Wow - I'd never heard of one before.

    Nina,
Considering the "orebankers" part of your email I'd say we probably crossed paths! I was in the main house with my soaps, salves, etc. and giving out free samples of herbal teas. Two of my boys were dressed as Tom Sawyer and Huck and selling cane poles and bean tee-pees on the front porch and another son was selling beaded jewelry in the same room we were in.

Went to your site - loved it! Sounds like we have a lot in common :)
    Blessings,

  4. Yes, yes! I remember the adorable boys with the tepees! We came in for a minute... not long enough for you to remember I'm sure... unless you remember a little red-haired girl whining annoyingly that she was bored and could we PLEASE go see some more animals? Had I been alone I would have lingered. I did stop to smell a few of your soaps and thought they were lovely.

  5. Nina,
Sorry, I don't remember a little red-haired girl (I adore red hair). Too bad we didn't get a chance to meet and talk :)

There will be another fair on May 9-10 at the Appalachian Fairgrounds in Gray. Lots of things for little ones to do - if you come please look me up - I'll be speaking both days and my booth is in the inside building.

    Blessings,
    Cheri
