Thoughts on the new president

Remember, dear readers, it is our Father God who holds and turns the heart of a King (i.e. person of power..or in our instance our President).

Proverbs 21

1 The king’s heart is in the hand of the LORD, Like the rivers of water;
He turns it wherever He wishes.

As we teach our children to trust our Father, who holds all in His hands, we must continue to teach them about our Constitution and the Bill of Rights, teach them to be vigilant and to hold our leaders accountable. They are the next generation of leaders, may we prepare them well with our Father's help.

I could post so much more but Lady Why has articulated it so well there is no need to waste time typing it myself. So, take a quick trip over to her blog and rest easy...our Father is in control!

How thankful I am for the lessons of the last few years.  How thankful I am that He has cared for me so and shown me His mercy and love.  How thankful I am that I have learned to trust Him in all things (even this!) and that I know I rest under His wings.  A place of refuge!
Ruth 2:12
The LORD repay your work, and a full reward be given you by the LORD God of Israel, under whose wings you have come for refuge.”

Psalm 57:1
Be merciful to me, O God, be merciful to me! For my soul trusts in You; And in the shadow of Your wings I will make my refuge, Until these calamities have passed by.

Psalm 91:4
He shall cover you with His feathers, And under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler.

I invite you to join me there!

Blessings,

  1. THIS IS HISTORIC, BUT I DON’T THINK THIS IS SPECIAL, IT IS SAD BECAUSE OF HIS POLICIES. MY HEART IS HEAVY, NOT REJOICEFUL BECAUSE OF HIS POLICIES. THERE COULD BE HORRIFYING POTENTIAL BECAUSE OF HIS POLICIES. I AM NOT MOVED BY THIS, NOT BECAUSE OF HIS SKIN COLOR, BUT AGAIN HIS POLICIES. “CHANGE” ISN’T ALWAYS A GOOD THING. GOD HAS ALLOWED THIS FOR HIS PURPOSES AND I HAVE TO RELY ON THAT. MY HEART IS HEAVY, AND ONLY THE LORD CAN LIFT THAT. THINGS HAPPEN THAT BAFFLE THE MIND AND HEART, TRUSTING THAT GOD HAS ALLOWED THIS IS ALL THAT I CAN DO. EVEN THOUGH MY HEART IS HEAVY, I WILL CONTINUE TO PRAY FOR MY COUNTRY AND LEADERS AS GOD WORD SAYS.

  2. Amen, Proverbs 21. I also am having a very hard time rejoicing in this monumental day of American history. I've said it before and haven't changed my mind, but this man scares me. I am so thankful that I know God has always had his hand on this country and always will. This is definitely a time to pray and hopefully we will see God's hand move in the life and through the life of our new President.

  3. I shared this very verse with a friend a few weeks ago. She had called me and told me she was afraid of an Obama presidency. She is afraid of the direction our country will take. She knows that God is in control - but sometimes we just need to remind each other of that, don't we?

Thanks for your kind words and prayers for Mom, Cheri!

  5. I, too, have fought the temptation to let fear enter in. What happened yesterday is not good for our country, and it has nothing to do with the color of the skin, it has to do with the complete turnaround from God's Word. We now have a president who thinks it's "above his pay grade" to make a comment on abortion. God help us all. But..... we are under a mandate from our Father to pray for him, and I'm a firm believer that we are in this position today because for the last at least 16 years we have rejoiced in our prosperity and our prayers being met, and have not upheld our mandate to first of all make intercession for our leaders. We are now reaping the fruit of that. At this point my sincere prayer is God have mercy on us all, and as we seek the Father's face and abide in him, we have the full assurance that He will not leave us nor forsake us.

  6. I pray for our President, our great nation, our civil authorities, our armed forces, and for peace in this world. I pray for the sick, the lonely, the young and the old. I pray for wisdom and discernment.

I do not worry, because we are as taken care of as the birds in the sky.

The United States of America is steadfast and strong. So must we be also.

  7. ST,
I agree...it was all about his policies. I imagine he will have to inact them to understand they will fail. Unfortunately the people they will hurt the most are the ones he proposes to help. Like you, all we can do is pray.

    Amanda,
    Our prayer also..

    Cheri,
We do need to remind each other. Often.

    Christina,
    You are so welcome :)

    Willa,
    You are spot on!

    Zoe,
Wonderful prayers....our home group spent a long time last night praying for our President-elect. We must continue to do so.

  8. I have to say, I have some fear about this man being president.
    His policies are frightening.
I truly believe he hates America, and that he wants to change alright---change for the worse!
He wants to make us a socialist country.

Our family is on our knees daily praying to the ONE Who can help us!

  9. The story from the Scriptures about the hand-writing on the wall that said something to the effect: You have been weighed in the balances and found wanting. It just keeps playing over and over in my mind. Regardless of anything else that has happened, it is a serious thing to allow yourself to be referred to as the Messiah or God. Our FATHER is a jealous G-D...HE shares worship with no one else. But mankind seldom learns anything but by the hard way, eh?

One thing I have learned is that HE is way more creative at solving problems than we can ever be...in fact, I rarely think to ask HIM to solve something in the ways HE seems to come up with. At one time we attended a church that had the worst excuse for a teacher of children I ever saw. She yelled her head off (don't ask me why the church did not find her someplace else to be useful). FINALLY, when man did nothing about it, the FATHER stepped in (at least it is my opinion in this case that HE did). She lost her voice. Could only speak in a whisper for months and doctor told her if she EVER yelled or abused her voice again, some people had been known to loose their voice permanently, never to return. If only I had prayed for the FATHER to come up with a natural solution like that. Seems to me, we can pray the FATHER comes up with some kind of "natural solution" for the problems that are now, more than ever, facing our country!!
