Last Christmas season, my boys and I attended a Civil War Ball in full Civil War dress. At the end of the ball a large group of us went to Walmart still in costume and asked permission to carol in the store. We spent about 45 minutes walking through the entire store and singing Christmas songs. We avoided songs like Frosty the Snowman and instead picked Christmas Hymns and songs that exalted the birth of Jesus Christ. We were a bit nervous...we weren't sure how we would be received...it crossed my mind that tomatoes are available in Walmart and it usually isn't hard to find a rotten one or two.
We were amazed. People, both customers and workers, stopped what they were doing to watch. Some filmed us with their cell phones, some smiled, some sang with us and more than one had tears rolling down their cheeks. We saw no negative reactions. Just think, 30 minutes of Jesus's name being exalted in all of the aisles at Walmart.
Imagine...what would happen if all of us who call Him Father could be this free...free to stop and worship Him as He leads without worrying about what others would think or how we look to others. If we could get US out of the way, I believe we would once again make a huge impact on this fallen world.

I am mama to four wonderful guys. I have two sons at home and two married sons close by. We live on a farm in TN. We seek to live a simple, self-sufficient life as we depend on God for His direction and His grace.
“But we urge you, brethren, that you increase more and more; that you also aspire to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you, that you may walk properly toward those who are outside, and that you may lack nothing. I Thes.4:10-12
May God grant us the grace to live passionately, yet simply, for Him!
“God is not a belief to which you give your assent. God becomes a reality whom you know intimately, meet everyday, one whose strength becomes your strength, whose love, your love. Live this life of the presence of God long enough and when someone asks you, “Do you believe there is a God?” you may find yourself answering, “No, I do not believe there is a God. I know there is a God.” ~Ernest Boyer, Jr.
We do not get involved in sin to create problems...we do so to fill a void in our lives that we're not allowing God to fill.
“It is not what we say or feel that makes us what we are. It is what we do.....or fail to do.” Marianne, BBC 2007 production of Jane Austen’s Sense and Sensibility” ~Andrew Davies
"A man who lies to himself, and believes his own lies, becomes unable to recognize truth, either in himself or in anyone else, and he ends up losing respect for himself and for others. When he has no respect for anyone, he can no longer love, and in him, he yields to his impulses, indulges in the lowest form of pleasure, and behaves in the end like an animal in satisfying his vices. And it all comes from lying to others and to yourself."~ Dostoevsky
Amen! We should just go and sing worship songs next time!
