Saying Good-bye...

It's over...summer has really left us - we had our first freeze the other night. We also had our last tastes of fresh veggies from the garden...

the last of the fresh tomatoes...

our last bowl of fresh squash...

the last pot of fresh green beans...

and my last batch of fresh salsa....

We are so grateful to our Father who truly controls the seasons and the outcome of our gardens.  We can put forth our best efforts but the results in farming are always up to Him. He has been gracious and good to us again this year and we are ever thankful to Him and mindful that the results are His and His alone.

Although we are already looking forward to, and making plans for next year; truthfully, we enjoy this season of rest.

The garden is already turning into a sea of green from the wheat and clover that Josiah planted as a cover crop. We are cleaning out our seeds, packaging and labeling those we have saved and making plans on what will be planted where....

This season of rest and hope always reminds me of the hope we have in Him.  Hope for new beginnings, hope for starting over... hope for better endings!

He is our hope, He is our future!

Blessings,

  1. Praise God for His bounty!

Do you save seeds every year? Do you do it for all your vegetables?

  2. Hi Christine!
We save seeds from flowers, veggies and herbs. Although we don't quite save everything yet...each year we get a little closer. We do tomatoes, peppers, squash, zucchini, lettuce, melons (all kinds!), flowers, herbs, corn, cukes, brassicas, tomatillas, egg plant, kale, spinach, pole beans, bush beans and dried beans...that's all I can think of off the top of my head :)
    Blessings,

  3. It is sad to see summer go, but fall and winter bring on their own beautiful things. Snow is one and is a rare thing in Alabama. Also, it is a time to rest and enjoy all the many blessings we worked so hard for during the summer. God has been good to me and my family and I am looking forward to the beauty of winter.
