Of Lip Balms and Contests!

This time of imposed quiet has had many benefits.  I've been able to get caught up on many" paperwork" projects that I never seem to have time to finish.  My desk has had a thorough going over and re-organization (my quiet kind of "spring cleaning") and I've had time to add some things to my website!

I'm excited to tell you that my lip balms now have a home on my website!

You can read about why I started making lip balms here. I'll warn you ahead of time....it all started with me reading labels again....I get into more trouble reading labels!

I have several varieties up - less than half of what I currently make - and will be adding the rest over the next week or so. I created a new one for this "debut" and it is now my favorite...Orange Cream.

Doodle inspired this scent while discussing the merits of Creamsicles and the possibilities of making them from scratch.  I'm so glad he did!

Soon to come are Lavender, Cappuccino, Double Mint, Grapefruit, Vanilla, Cold Sore Relief, Lemonade, Chocolate Orange and Chocolate Mint.  However, I'd like to have a few more scents. So, of course, I thought of y'all,

Let's have a contest!  It will go like this....

1.  Submit your suggestions for lip balms and if I choose your suggestion you can pick any lip balm I have and I'll send it to you for free!  I even pay the shipping!

2. Suggestions must be submitted in the comment section of this post - that way they don't get lost and it is easy to see who suggested what first.

3. None of the scents already on my website, or those listed above, are eligible.

4. Also...please note...these have to be all natural. So....scents like Bubblegum, Raspberry swirl and other things that would require a chemical to scent it will be tossed out on their respective ears ...politely declined. I have to be able to do this with essential oils!

5. There will be up to 4 winners.

6. Contest starts now and ends on Sunday, March 6th at midnight! Winners will be announced Tuesday, March 8th.

Have fun!

Blessings,

  2. How about Mounds (virgin coconut oil, cocoa butter) or Almond Joy (virgin coconut oil, cocoa butter, sweet almond oil or almond essential oil). I dunno...can they be sweetened ever-so-slightly with Stevia extract or xylitol? I think I'd eat my lips.

Or how about Chai, to taste/smell like Chai tea? Maybe with cinnamon, cloves, ginger, vanilla,cardamom... My favorites are the decaf teas like Celestial Seasonings' Bengal Spice or Mountain Rose Herb's Firefly Chai. Ooh la la.

Or maybe you could make one taste really icky like dirt or something so the twins won't want to eat it.

I love brainstorming. The kids are brainstorming as I type...

  4. My first thought is coconut. I don't like a lot of zing in my lip balm.

Plain chocolate would be a winner or something caramel. Or is there a way to do a butter cream flavor like icing tastes? Yum!

  6. Melanie,

  7. Julie,
Hhmmm..is there an almond essential oil? I'll have to check into it. The spice blend sounds good too. Cocoa butter is hard to work with because it makes a hard lip balm but I'll give it thought. Maybe the twins would not like cinnamon?

  8. Melanie,
Cinnamon and orange cinnamon both sounds good. I inadvertently left Cinnamon off my list although it is in production - but I'll give you that one :)

  9. Becky,
Chocolate would be difficult - and carmetl I think impossible without resorting to chemicals - a big no! no!. Don't think butter cream icing is possible either - essential oils have to come from plant material :) Now we need someone to develop chocolate and carmel flavored plants :) Without GMOS of course!

  10. H.Kikkert,
Now I will really have to look for Almond essential oil - honey - yummy. But, I think the suncreen would require a non-natural solution.
    Thanks!

  11. Hi Cheri, did you ever receive my emails?

  12. Hi Lynn,
I have not received emails from you...I have been having email issues for about 2 months now - they can't seem to get it fixed. I don't receive or send well right now. You can call me.

  13. My personal favorite, although very tempting to eat, is a peppermint or other mint flavor. And I think I've seen almond essential oils at Mountain Rose Herbs :-)

  14. Eucalyptus and/or aloe, green tea, (I love the Chai suggestion!) really any kind of tea, peanut butter?.

I'm not sure how many of these will work though.

  15. Maybe dill?

I can't wait for you to get all your "flavors" up on the site. I'm ready to order:) Then I can give my daughter one w/o all those chemicals. Yuck!

  16. Melanie,
Don't know about anyone else but I'd love dill! The rest of the scents will be going up over the next two weeks :)

  17. Oh! Cheri I think dill would be great too, but like you I'm not sure if it would be popular.
Great I will be lookin out and be ready to order.
    Thanks,
    Melanie B.
