“God is not a belief to which you give your assent. God becomes a reality whom you know intimately, meet everyday, one whose strength becomes your strength, whose love, your love. Live this life of the presence of God long enough and when someone asks you, “Do you believe there is a God?” you may find yourself answering, “No, I do not believe there is a God. I know there is a God.” ~Ernest Boyer, Jr.
We do not get involved in sin to create problems...we do so to fill a void in our lives that we're not allowing God to fill.
“It is not what we say or feel that makes us what we are. It is what we do.....or fail to do.” Marianne, BBC 2007 production of Jane Austen’s Sense and Sensibility” ~Andrew Davies
"A man who lies to himself, and believes his own lies, becomes unable to recognize truth, either in himself or in anyone else, and he ends up losing respect for himself and for others. When he has no respect for anyone, he can no longer love, and in him, he yields to his impulses, indulges in the lowest form of pleasure, and behaves in the end like an animal in satisfying his vices. And it all comes from lying to others and to yourself."~ Dostoevsky
I have a Dyson Vacuum. I really like it. It definitely sucks more than my old Oreck or Electrolux, and I never have to buy bags. My only complaint (I've had it just over a year) is the craftsmanship; it's made in Malaysia, I think, and while nothing has broken, there is a gap between the dirt-collector and the delivery-pipe. It still works fine, though I could've returned it to costco if I'd wanted. All in all, it's probably the best (of the few) vacuum I've owned. My Oreck needed a bearing replaced after a couple years of regular use ($85 for the part) and ran thru belts pretty quickly. And had spendy bags. So did the electrolux.
ReplyDeleteEllajac,
ReplyDeleteThanks for telling me this. I had never heard of a Dyson before and it is great to hear from someone who has one and likes it. My Mom has an Oreck and says the same thing about belts.

That's what you get for not watching TV. (just kidding) The Dyson is fabulous. I use to empty my vacum bag once every month or so with the ordinary vacum. I empty the Dyson with each room I clean as it is full of dirt and pet hair. No bags, so this is just fine. What it shows me is that it actually picks the dirt up whereas the others never did.
ReplyDeleteKathy,
ReplyDeleteYou are right about the TV...I do miss a lot (thank goodness!). I'm glad to hear about this - I have a Kirby but am needing to get a new vacum and will look into the Dyson!
