When we moved here 10 years ago, I felt like our Father put this verse on my heart for this farm:
6 “Therefore you shall keep the commandments of the LORD your God, to walk in His ways and to fear Him. 7 For the LORD your God is bringing you into a good land, a land of brooks of water, of fountains and springs, that flow out of valleys and hills; 8 a land of wheat and barley, of vines and fig trees and pomegranates, a land of olive oil and honey; 9 a land in which you will eat bread without scarcity, in which you will lack nothing; a land whose stones are iron and out of whose hills you can dig copper. 10 When you have eaten and are full, then you shall bless the LORD your God for the good land which He has given you.
It would be nice to have the farm name reflect this verse in some way...but it's not necessary.
So...here are the rules:
- You may enter as many times as you'd like either in the comment section or by email.
- The contest will end at midnight on July 18th.
- Although we will pick a winner, it does not obligate us to use the name.....you never know...we might think of one ourselves :)
- The winner will be announced on Monday, July 21st.
- Remember that I have to answer the phone with this name and write it down a million times a year....PLEASE....no long names (Green Rolling Hills Farm would just get tiresome quick)!
- Elijah wants me to remind you that we'd like to acknowledge our Father in some way with the name.
- *EDIT* If more than one person picks the same name, then the one who picked it first wins!
Oh....and the rewards....the winner will receive:
- A copy of a wonderful cookbook called "From Asparagus to Zucchini: A guide to Farm-Fresh, Seasonal Produce." One of my FAVORITE cookbooks! Look up what's growing in your garden and find lots of recipes for that veggie!
- AND...your choice of 2 soaps
- AND your choice of 1 salve
- AND your choice of 1 Tea
- AND your choice of one of the new all natural lip balms that are going up on my website!
So...on your mark, get set, GO!!! We are looking forward to seeing how creative ya'll can be!
In the meantime...stay tuned for some exciting new additions to the shampoo line....I'll have pictures of the newest creation by Monday. Also, you aspiring bread bakers, join me later this weekend for a tutorial on making garlic knots...YUMMY!
Um, the best name I could think of is Natures Yard farm. Is that silly?? Sorry, just trying to play along!
ReplyDeleteFor the name of your farm, considering the verse you shared, how about
ReplyDelete"Abundant Acres" or "Acres of Abundance?"
New beginnings are so exciting!
God bless your family.
Kris in PA
One more suggestion... God's Gift/s Farm... for the same reasons as the Lord's Blessing/s Farm suggestion.
ReplyDeleteHow about Lord's Blessing Farm? Both for the blessings he has bestowed upon you in the farm of fertile fields and healthy children and for the blessings you say over the fruits of the fields and with your children.
ReplyDeleteLadies,
ReplyDeleteAll wonderful names...we are off to a great start!
Thanks so much!
Cheri
I really like the entry for Abundance Acres!
ReplyDeleteHow about Providence Farm? I really like that, too.
I don't know if this will be easy to say each time, but what about Jehovah Jireh Farms. It cames from Gen.22:14 and means The Lord Provides.
ReplyDeleteNo, I'm not Jewish, but another one is Shalom (peace) or Salem (peace) Farms. Shalom is found in Judges 6:24 and Salem is found in Psalm 76:2. It sounds like you have found peace in the farm you have.
ReplyDeleteWow, I like Sarah's suggestion :)
ReplyDeleteI see what you mean about the sidebar... yikes, but I think it will be fixable.
So, here's my suggestion:
Plentiful Valley Farms
Providence Farm was an idea that I came up with in the middle of the night! Great idea Jean! :)
ReplyDeleteAnother thought I had was Amazing Grace Acres.
Is Canaan too obvious? I like simple names, so maybe Promise Farm or Promise Acres. Or maybe something involving Joshua, who led the people into the promised land.
ReplyDeleteBlessed Acres Farm (pronounced Bless-ed)
ReplyDeleteHow about Iron Stones Farm?
ReplyDeleteWhen people ask about the name, you could share your scripture and your testimony with them.
God's Bountiful Farm
ReplyDeleteOkay this is fun, I like the Canaan idea... Canaan Farms sounds cool. Canaan being the same land talked about in the scripture you shared as well as Joshua being a part of the story ;)
ReplyDeleteWell I started thinking about the verse you shared and asking God what else he says about your home and then I thought of this verse also:
Isaiah 62:4
"No longer will they call you Deserted, or name your land Desolate. But you will be called Hephzibah, and your land Beulah; for the Lord will take delight in you, and your land will be married."
so I know that God has always blessed you and that he will continue to do so and with that in mind I jumped on the Hebrew train like Sarah and I came up with.
Beulah Farm (beh-yoo-lah) meaning married, belonging to blessed and favored by the Lord.
or
Hephzibah Farm (hef-zi-bah) meaning "my delight is in her"
now practically speaking... those are on the more difficult side to pronounce but... even still I think Isaiah 62:4 is for your home... and I had fun! :) I can hardly wait to hear the new name though!
How about Flowing Waters Farm.
ReplyDeleteHow fun reading everyones entries!
ReplyDeleteI have a few to throw in the hat:
Peaceful Acres, Blooming Pastures, Milk & Honey Farms, Hopeful Acres, Vines & Branches Homestead, Bountiful Acres, Honeycreek Farm, Willow Creek Farms, Peaceful Meadows, Pebblebrook Farms, Whispering Pines,
I first thought...Peace 'n Plenty Farm but then I thought no..too much to say.
ReplyDeleteThen I thought.... Deuteronomy 8 Farm. That's a mouthful too.
And I know this one sound corny/whatever, but it keeps coming back to me....Thanking Him Farm
Enjoy your blog... (I really like the suggestion Iron Stones Farm that someone suggested.)
Ya'll are amazing. These are wonderful names...keep'em coming!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Cheri
Redeemed Harvest Farm
ReplyDeleteGoodland Farms was my first thought. Happy naming!
ReplyDeleteFullness Farm or Fulness Farm, which is the correct spelling yet "looks wrong" to me.
ReplyDeleteIt reflects the verses you mention about productive and blessed land, and also could remind you of Colossians ch. 1 and 2, where the "fulness" there is God's provision of Jesus Christ, the fulness of God, in whom we are made complete.
Plus it is alliterative and brief, and may make people curious about why it's called that. Ah, too bad Fulness is an often misspelled word!
Blessed Acres ~ I thought Melissa had my suggestion, but she added 'farm' to hers....
ReplyDeleteAs I reflected on the verses & what I know of you from my short time visiting your bog, I just kept coming back to 'blessed'. God jhas been blessing you abundantly.
oh, that's good, too ~ Abundant Blessings
you're going to have a tough time choosing
:-)
Blessings ~ Tracy
Debbie...I love it!
ReplyDeleteMary Ellen, That is one we also came up with and is high on our list...miss you guys!
Diane and Tracy,
Those are great names!!!
We will have a hard time choosing :)
I'm partial to "bountiful acres", not sure if that's one has been said yet or not.
ReplyDeleteI would have such a hard time choosing, those are all wonderful names!
I liked "Providence Farm". Its simple and meaningful.
ReplyDeleteHere are a few other suggestions:
Grace Farm (since it is a gift to you from God)
Punkin Farm (just cause I like punkins)
How about Giving Thanks Farm? It was the first thing that came to mind. Or God's Glory Farm.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Tina
OK I'm STILL pulling for Iron Stones Farm because you have those wonderful young men on the farm with you, and it is a strong, masculine name yet still biblically based and representative of what the Father has done for all of you. If you were all women there, I would have something more flowery in mind! I like the thought of one of the boys answering the phone (you were the one that pointed out that it needs to be able to be said well on the phone) and saying that name. If all else fails, I am a friend of Cheri S. but I still reside in the Northwoods. Does that influence you at all? (I'm just a little short of begging on my knees!)
ReplyDeleteHi, Cheri!
ReplyDeleteJust stopped by this evening and I love this thread! What do you think of God's Garden or Good Land Farms--since "good land" appears both fore and aft in the passage you love. Have fun choosing the name!
Blessings!
Barbara K.
Melissa,
ReplyDeleteYou've got me giggling....I like the name too...it goes on the list :) Don't you just love Cheri S.!?
Barbara,
I think someone already mentioned Good Land Farm...but the other one goes on the list!
Blessings,
Cheri
Here is the winner! "Uncle Mark's Hideaway"
ReplyDeleteHere are a few I just thought of, good luck!
ReplyDeleteObedient Brook Farm
Meadows Of Promise Farm
Promise Land Farm
Glory Be Meadows Farm
Glorious Day Farm
Trinity Farm
Mark!
ReplyDeleteOur family would understand but others might ask a lot of questions :)
Love you,
Cheri
We used to have a group at our church called Ladies Leaving a Legacy. I've always thought that Legacy Farm or Legacy Acres might be a good name for our farm, perhaps you would like it for yours.
ReplyDeleteMark,
ReplyDeleteThose are great...adding them to the list...see ya'll Wed. morning!
Love,
Cheri
I breezed through all the previous suggestions, so not sure if this was given.
ReplyDeleteAbundant Grace Farm
Blessings.
It sure sounds like the land God promised you.
ReplyDeletethus...Promised Land Farm
How about God's Land Farm? Or Godland/God Land Farm? Just a thought. Good luck with your naming!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Tina
How about Heritage Acres? I love many of the other suggestions too. Can't wait to hear what you decide!
ReplyDeleteI thought of Abundance Acres, and then saw that it was already suggested.
ReplyDeleteMy vote, though, is for that.
Hi, Cheri:
ReplyDeleteAs I read the Scripture God gave you when you came, looks to me like God's Covenant with you -- how about Covenant Valley, or Covenant Hollow -- I personally like Covenant Valley, that makes all parts of the name a new beginning.
God bless you abundantly,
Love,
Willa
Copper Hills Farm
ReplyDeleteDesire of Heart Farm
Lambs Own Acres
Abundant Arrow Acres
I liked Providence Farm, and also Promised Land Farm....both which I thought of, but have seen that they are already listed. With all the wonderful suggestions, this may be more difficult than you thought (but in a good way)! :) Are your children going to get a "vote" on the final choice?
ReplyDeleteThanks for even MORE great suggestions...and yes...the boys will all vote on the name...my Mom too! This is, after all, a multi-generational farm :)
ReplyDeleteBlessings and keep 'em coming!
Cheri
Ok, Cheri, I've done some research. "Fullness" is apparently the correct modern spelling; fulness was in my old KJV Bible but is apparently out of normal use. So I re-suggest my earlier suggestion, Fullness Farm. (That looks better to me anyhow!)
ReplyDelete~ Diane
Here are a couple:
ReplyDeleteGrace Abounds
Abundantly Blessed
Jennifer
wow! so many names!!! its amazing!
ReplyDelete"Hello, Iron Stone Farms. How can I help you?" Nice, no frills, to the point, God-honoring.... Can't you just hear it?
ReplyDeleteEasy to write as well.
I'm still campaigning shamelessly.
Melissa,
ReplyDeleteOk, we just had a conference around my Mac and have voted you the perseverance award :) LOL So, promise me that when you come south to visit the other Cheri you make her drag your shameless self up here :) I can't wait to hug your neck - you sound like my kinda gal...even if you are a northerner LOL!
Blessings,
Cheri
I once was referred to as a "modern day Nehemiah."
ReplyDeleteDon't know if I'll get to TN in the near future, but I am never one to pass up an invitation! In the meantime, I'll enjoy reading about ISF (see, even the initials look good on paper) via your blog.
What fun, Cheri! I always enjoy your blog, and I keep you and your boys in my prayers.
ReplyDeleteI've been pondering this renaming thing. I like Stonebrook Farm. Stone and brook from the verses, obviously. But also, I think of David slaying Goliath with his stones, of the Israelites building altars with stones, of building our houses on stone/rock, of Jesus being our Rock, of Him being the capstone, etc. I like the brook part because it nicely complements and softens the hardness of stone. Jesus is our living water, Proverbs 18:4 tells us that "the fountain of wisdom is a bubbling brook," and Revelation 22 tells us of a "river of the water of life," which flows down the middle of the great street in heaven. Further study would make many more tie-ins, but my vote is for STONEBROOK FARM!
Emmanuel Farms That way every time you answer the phone you will be saying God With Us!
ReplyDeleteI will be ordering soap shortly. I ordered once before and loved it. My husband keeps asking about that soap I bought from you because it cleaned his hands so well, but I forgot the name to order more.
You don't by chance keep a log of what customers ordered?
Thanks!
Kris
Hi Kris,
ReplyDeleteIf you ordered within the last year I can probably find it :) I need to know what month and what you remember ordering...you can email me tnfarmgirl@comcast.net.
Blessings,
Cheri
Two more ideas:
ReplyDeleteFirm Foundation Farm
New Mercies Farm
(from Lamentation 3, I think, but don't have time to look up cuz Pat needs his computer - 'His mercies are new every morning, great is His faithfulness'.
How about Charis Acres?
ReplyDeleteThat is Latin for grace. I only know this because when we were designing my son's homeschool graduation diploma, that is what we called our homeschool (except it was Charis Academy).
It opened so many doors to explain God's grace in our life to those who asked what Charis meant. :)
You have so many good suggestions already. Here's few more:
ReplyDeleteAcres of Promise
Heavenly Homestead
The Father's Farm
